Legislation

The important elements that must be included in national legislation are the following:

• The designation of at least one Management Authority and one Scientific Authority;
• The prohibition of trade in specimens in violation of the Convention;
• The penalization of such trade; and
• The confiscation of specimens illegally traded or possessed.
