5.1 Final Application: Using Table II of the Checklist

Your first task is to choose an Appendix II-listed species for export.

You may wish to check the CITES Appendices to make sure that the species is indeed listed in Appendix II and not Appendix I. Remember, you do not need to make a non-detriment finding for species listed in Appendix III.

Next, we recommend that you search the species in the CITES Species Database for more general information about the species. If you are unsure about the correct spelling of the scientific name or common name of the species, you can always use the CITES Checklist.

If you need information regarding the level of trade in that species, you can use the CITES Trade Database.
