Legislation

All countries that join the Convention engage themselves to adopt legislation for its implementation.

In the context of this course we can therefore not give you any indication on where in your national legislation the relevant legal basis for your work can be found. However, the Management Authority in your country should certainly be able to clarify this to you.

Other types of legislation (e.g. veterinary or phytosanitary) do also apply to CITES specimens and may in certain cases even be more effective when dealing with illegal shipments.
